Golf simulator for home allow you to practice and play a virtual round of golf on courses 24/7, in the comfort of your home, regardless of what the weather is doing outside. If you watch The Golf Channel or ESPN, it’s quite likely you’ve caught a glimpse of a PGA Tour Professional practicing at home on their indoor golf simulator. How much Golf simulator for home cost? Or how to do Golf simulator for home DIY?

What are the types of Golf Simulators?

There are three main types of golf simulators, each with there own pro’s and con’s.

Photometric – photometric-based golf simulators, such as the SkyTrak and Foresight Sports GC2, are camera based systems that take high speed images of the ball immediately after impact. The images that are taken are then analyzed to obtain the measurements needed to render shot shape and distance. This type of golf simulator can be used both indoors and outdoors, providing added flexibility. One drawback is that these systems typically do not capture club data such as angle of attack, smash factor, etc. Data captured includes: speed, back spin, side spin, distance off center, and more.

Ball Speed

ball speed measurement from golf simulator

Measurement of golf ball’s velocity after impact. It is the main component in creating distance.

Total Spin

total spin measurement from golf simulator

Total spin is the amount of spin created around the tilt axis. Spin will determine the shape and lift of the shot.

Distance Off Center

distance off center measurement provided by golf simulators

The initial angle relative to the target line. Combined with side spin, determines the final position range relative to target.

Infrared – Infrared (IR) golf simulators, such as the Optishot, emit a light signal to capture the position of the clubhead through the swing.

Since they capture clubhead information to render shot results, it is not required to use a real ball. In our experience, these types of systems are not as reliable tracking as a Photometric or Radar based system.

Radar (Doppler) – This type of golf simulator, such as the Voice Caddie SC300, uses doppler radar technology for tracking.

Doppler radar is also used by other industries to track objects, most famously aircraft and weather systems.

In a radar based simulator, a microwave signal is emitted from the unit and bounces back from the golf ball after impact.

Because it needs to be able to see it travel in flight post-impact, these types of simulators operate best outdoors. They can be used indoors as well, but results for tracking are always better outdoors.

What is the minimum Golf Simulator Space measurement?

One of the most common questions we receive from customers early on in the buying process is “how much space do I need”. Space requirements can vary from customer to customer based on their height & swing, as well as equipment used (screen, mat, projector, etc).

While there’s not a one-size-fits-all answer, it is our experience that a typical simulator setup is able to fit into most spaces.  You will need a space with minimum dimensions of:

  • 12′ Width
  • 12′ Length
  • 9′ Height

Golf simulator for home cost & DIY

This is the level that I was most interested in. I know most of you reading this are not going to be able to invest $10,000 – $70,000 in a home golf simulator.

Budget range

If you are on a tight budget but want a full simulation experience, you can do it for well under $5,000.

the mat and projector you use can significantly vary in quality. If you you to  you can purchase this mat for $70 (you will need to cut out a space for OptiShot in it), and get a projector as low as $65. Be aware that the durability and quality will be greatly sacrificed here.

Optishot – $300, Mat – $70, Projector – $65 = $435

Technically you could get yourself into a basic home golf simulator for around $500 (if you have a computer that can run the OptiShot software already). Be aware that accessory costs like projector mounts and cable could add about $50- $200 more to your cost.

Mid Range – Under $10,000

If you have a bigger budget then you can get a much more accurate simulator, and increase the quality of all the materials you will use.

If you have some more money to invest in a unit like SkyTrak, then you will want to make sure the rest of the materials you use are going to last. Here is a potential package you can use:

Mat – $350, Projector – $500, Impact Screen – $350, Skytrak – $2000, Software – $100-$200/yr =  $3400 (you also might require a computer or tablet to run the Skytrak software)

High End – $10,000 and beyond

When your budget gets beyond $10,000 a lot more options open up for you regarding accuracy, software, and the quality of your setup.

You can now purchase launch monitors from Foresight, Trackman, and Flightscope. Additionally, there are more premium packages from high-end home golf simulator companies like Full Swing GolfSwingTrack and TRU GOLF. At these levels, you can expect to get much more accuracy concerning ball flight as well as your swing information. Additionally, the simulation software becomes much more robust.

What is good in PreciseGolf Co Precise X7 junior complete golf club set?

3-12 age range

Although we will be going over the set that is designed for 3-5 year olds, you can get this same set in 4-6 year-old sizes and 9-12 year-old sizes. You can also get them in right and left-handed head orientations.

Graphite shafts

The PreciseGolf Co. Precise X7 Junior Complete Set is features graphite shafts. We believe that it’s best to get a child accustomed to graphite shafts as soon as possible as they allow for maximum distance and gets a child used to flex.

Lightweight

The graphite shafts keep their weight down so that even the smallest players can carry and use them without being detrimentally encumbered.

5 clubs

The PreciseGolf Co. Precise X7 Junior Complete Set features a total of 5 clubs. First up is the driver which features a generous 15 degree loft and a very large sweet spot. The face is nice and wide so it will be easier for your child to not only hit with; but hit straighter with.

Irons

Next up are the irons. You get a 6/7 iron and a 9/PW. These irons are very forgiving which is essential to build the confidence of a young player. They play very well even with off-center hits and are even perimeter weighted.

Putter

The putter is nothing to write home about but it does feature a mallet design and an aligned face to help with stroke and aim. The bag features the same orange design as the clubs and shoulder straps that allow it to be carried like a backpack. There are also leg stands that support it when at rest.

Hybrid wood

The The PreciseGolf Co. Precise X7 Junior Complete Set even includes a hybrid wood! This wood features a 22 degree loft and a very generous club face. We saw that most of our kids were able to wield the hybrid wood deftly and start to develop a proper form.

Wilson Profile Junior Golf Club Set

Great Set for Beginning Golfers

KEY FEATURES

  • Exceptional quality throughout the set, especially with woods and irons
  • Additional wedge in the Profile set gives advantage to experienced junior golfers
  • The stand bag in the set is dependable and accommodating for easy carrying

The Wilson Profile Junior Club Set is an excellent collection of clubs that feels like a custom fitted selection that will please most junior golfers.

Featuring high-quality woods and irons that are easy to swing while producing jaw-dropping club speed for exceptional distance, the set is one of the best we tested for junior level amateurs.

Beginning with the two woods in the set, the Profile collection features a stunning driver and hybrid duo that accommodates swings of all speeds while boosting distance and shot height.

The driver in the Profile set has a slightly smaller clubhead than in other junior sets we tested, but that didn’t take away from the quality contact we witnessed in swing after swing. Although Wilson does not provide the loft on the club, we estimated that it stands around 15-degrees.

The second wood is a hybrid, somewhere around 25-degrees, that has a classic look with a high-quality finish. With a flatter sole, the hybrid does well at staying low to the ground for shots off the grass or while using a tee.

The irons are unique, first in that there are three of them, and second in that Wilson has discarded using numbers on the clubs and has instead, placed designations on them. For example, in the Profile set, there is a “Long Iron,” “Short Iron,” and “Wedge.”

The Long Iron is something akin to a 7-iron and provides solid pop when hit in the center of the club face. Same goes for the Short Iron, which translates to a 9-iron in loft, also giving the junior golfer terrific height on shots for a soft landing on the green.

Finally, we loved the inclusion of a wedge. It is incredibly essential to get your child feeling comfortable with a wedge since most scoring is done with strong wedge work around the greens.

A stand bag is that it has strong legs and a padded top to protect the clubs completes the set. We would have liked a rain hood included in the Profile set, but there’s little to complain about as this is one terrific set for a young golfer with a bit of experience on the course.

Wilson Profile JGI Golf Club Set

Best For Golfers Aged 11-14: Best Starter Set for Older Junior Golfers

KEY FEATURES

  • Well-built clubs that can withstand the punishment of inexperienced golfers
  • Loved the low, flatter hybrid that does well in helping golfers get height on shots
  • The wedge in the set is sleek and produces high spin for softer landing shots

Designed for golfers that are aged 11-14, the Wilson Profile JGI Golf Club Set is a quality collection of clubs that will help beginning golfers that are slightly taller and stronger with better swing speeds.

These super game-improvement clubs are built to enhance the young golfer’s introduction to the game. In each club, the weight has been shifted down into the club head for a lower center of gravity that produces exceptionally high shots from the tee and fairway.

For the set’s two woods, you’ll notice how low the profile is with a rounder and flatter sole that keeps the club close to the ground, preventing juniors from topping the golf ball. The driver and hybrid in the Profile JGI set are stunners, with a black and dark blue finish that will instill confidence in the younger golfer.

The irons are cavity backed, and perimeter-weighted allowing for more solid contact at impact. Graphite-shafted, these two irons, “Long Iron” and “Short Iron,” play well from anywhere on the course and provide a solid introduction to the iron game.

Next on the list is a dynamic wedge that we all adored. The silver wedge has the shape and style of a blade but carves out a small cavity behind the sweet spot. Also graphite-shafted, the wedge does admirably at hitting high and soft shots that help the scorecard for the struggling junior golfer.

All five of the major clubs in the set have large sweet spots that accent forgiveness and reduce the shot-killing sidespin that ruins rounds.

The putter in the Profile JGI set is a blade-style putter that has a soft insert through the heart of the club face. The club provides reliable roll during our testing, but some children may feel more confident with a mallet’s look and feel.

Again, if we had one big complaint about this terrific set, it is that there aren’t more clubs! Although we love the addition of the wedge, the set feels lacking in a sense by the lack of completion. Even though Wilson says the club set range is up to 14 years old, it would be hard to send a high school-aged golfer to a tournament in a set like this as you would need far more clubs.

Another solid addition to the best junior golf clubs market, the Wilson JGI is great for golfers around the age of 11-12.

Determine proper club length for irons (Static Measurement)

The goal of proper club length is to allow a player to assume an athletic address position. A very tall player will stoop too much with a standard-length club, while a very short player will stand too upright. Proper shaft length can significantly influence the direction, consistency and distance of a golf shot by forcing the player into an address position that can be maintained throughout the golf swing.

What is Lie angle and what Lie angle do I need?

The lie angle of a club is the angle formed by the sole of the club and the shaft. This angle affects the position of the club head at address and impact. Proper lie will cause the center of the club head to strike the ground (good) rather than the heel or toe (bad).

Lie Angle Variations:

A club which is too upright for the golfer will hit the ground with the heel of the club, causing the clubface to close and resulting in a pull or hook (for right-handed players.) A club which is too flat will hit the ground with the toe of the club causing the clubface to open and resulting in a push or slice (for right-handed players.)

Help choosing proper club length and lie

Research indicates that lie angle is most effectively measured dynamically. It can be generalized that taller players require a more upright lie angle and shorter players a flatter lie angle. However, other variables affect impact lie angle such as the player’s address posture and how his/her hands are positioned at address and impact, either high or low. Therefore, a suitable lie angle cannot always be prescribed based on the player’s static (height and wrist-to-floor) measurement. Another good rule of thumb when deciding on proper club length is every ½” added to the standard length of a club will in return make the club play 1* more upright. Every 1/2″ subtracted will in return make the club play 1* flatter.

In order to achieve the most accurate club fitting, players should be fitted using both static and dynamic measurements. There is a direct correlation to the direction of the golf ball flight and the ability to swing consistently without compensations on the swing. To have accurate and correct measurements, you will need to have someone other than you gather the information. Lie angles listed are intended to be a reference chart only. Professional custom club fitting is needed and recommended to determine exact and correct length & lie.

Buying Guide

We now dive into a list of several key buying considerations that should make your buying decision a little bit easier.

Type Of Iron

There are technically lots of different types of irons out there. However, to simplify the process you could break the different styles into two broader categories: blade or cavity back.

Blade irons are muscly and small and designed to help you really control your ball flight. The make of the club is such that the ball responds to the exact type of swing you put on the ball.

Cavity back irons are usually designed with the purpose of making sure that you hit the ball straight, and nice and high up in the air. It is still possible to hit a bad shot with cavity back irons, but relative to a blade-style club, the chances are much lower.

Skill Level

Mizuno irons are largely thought to be for better players. However the truth of the matter is that even some of their clubs that fall squarely into the payers iron category are much more forgiving than similar products from other manufacturers.

That’s one of the things I have also loved about Mizuno, they provide really great versatile clubs that will suit a wide variety of swings. I’ve played blades from other companies before that are really punishing on days when your swing is a little bit quirky. Not so with Mizuno. Their large sweet spots democratize players irons making them a friendly choice for the masses.

Now all of this said there is a caveat. If you are a true beginner you will want to stay far away from their blade-style clubs. You’ll be much better served with something that features a wide sole, a generous offset and a sweet spot big enough to keep your ball in play no matter how you are swinging.

Configuration

One of the most important decisions you fave when buying a new set of irons is to select a configuration. In other words, which irons do you want in the bag?

Some retailers will let you hand-select which irons you order. Granted the actual choice is fairly limited. From a six-iron on up there really isn’t much wiggle room. Everyone pretty much keeps those clubs consistent and are well-served to do so. It’s the longer irons where you get some room to be creative. Lots of people like to sub out their lower irons for hybrids.

If you feel you might do that now is the time to decide. Forgoing an iron or two can save you hundreds of dollars on the sticker price of your clubs. You can then funnel that money you save towards the purchase of some new hybrids. It’s a true win-win.

Age Of The Club

Not all of the irons on our list are brand new. In fact several of them have been on the market for a few years already. Personally, I think buying slightly dated equipment is going to be the right move for most people. It’s a great way to save hundreds of dollars on gear that is really no different than the brand new stuff anyway.

However some players feel a little bit weird about buying older clubs. If you fall into that category understand that it comes with a hefty price. Newer stuff may be slightly more aerodynamic which will translate into easier distance. However, unless you are in a competitive situation the small differences may not be worthwhile.

Cross Sets

I like cross sets. Here is how they work: with easy to hit irons like your six-pitching wedge you select a players iron. For your more challenging clubs like the long irons, you can then choose game improvement clubs. It’s kind of an alternative to the hybrid approach mentioned in the last heading. Not every retailer will let you take this approach.

When mixing and matching with irons it is also important that you speak with a professional about what combinations are appropriate. If you choose two irons that are radically different it may lead to some problems with your swing.

How best golf irons 2020 reviews can help you? Which one is good fit for you? There are 5 types of golf irons. The five categories are Tour irons, Player ironsPlayer Distance irons, Game Improvement irons and Super Game Improvement irons. Manufacturers have been busy engineering performance to individually suit your needs. Find details in best golf irons 2020 reviews.

What is included in a golf iron set?

To talk about a typical iron set, you’ll get seven clubs: 4,5,6,7,8 and 9 irons, included with a pitching wedge, and also a gap wedge sometimes. Moreover, hybrid irons include hybrid clubs these days for a comparatively easier launch and super good forgiveness.

Irons are generally divided into three sets including long irons, mid-irons, and short irons. Now in simple words, long irons are for longer shots with shorter loft. On the contrary, shorter irons are designed to produce a bit higher loft. However, the conventional long irons are now replaced by hybrid clubs, and fill out the set with cavity back mid and short irons for improved performance.

How distance and irons are related?

Distance is greatly affected by the type iron you choose for your game. The yardage gap between each iron is 10 to 15 yards. Like, your 3-iron will add 10-15 yards more distance to your shot than the 4-iron. Though it greatly depends on the player and the way he hits the ball off the tee. As a beginner, don’t just expect that changing the iron will do all the magic. I mean you just can’t blast 220 yards with a 6-iron in the first shot until you are Jack Nicklaus!

Buying guide for Best golf irons 2020

Step 1: Determine Budget

Golfers almost always get sticker shock when they finally pick out the golf clubs that work best for their game. Unfortunately, with this game, the equipment prices add up fast. That’s why it is best to set your budget from day one.

If $1000 is where you want to be for a set of golf irons, you are very realistic. If your top price is $350 and you want all custom graphite shafts and grips, hopefully, there is a used set that meets your specs!

Keep in mind that the best irons 2018 and 2019 are still out there, and the prices are dropping fast.

Step 2: Custom Fitting

Do you need to be custom fitted for these irons, or do you just need to try them out. Many golfers think they need a custom club when, in reality, the stock model provides them just fine, and often saves some money. Custom fittings and custom irons can add cost to a set of irons.

The average golfer will be just fine with a set of golf clubs on the shelf. This is not to say that you shouldn’t try hitting some shots with the clubs you intend to buy. Just because the TaylorMade SIM MAX look amazing on TV, or in this review, doesn’t mean they will feel perfect when you hit them.

As a general rule of thumb, golf clubs are designed for a 5’9″ average golfer. If you are 5’7″ or even 6’0, you are still well within the range for standard length clubs.

Having something that is the right length for you is the most critical aspect of a proper fitting. Clubs that are the correct length will help golfers with consistent distance and accuracy.

Step 3: Features And Options

Irons across several manufacturers are going to come with many of the same features. Low center of gravity, lightweight shafts, and increased ball speed.

There are, however, a few features that you need to decide if you want in your clubs are not.

One of them will be forged irons. As hard as a cavity back tries, it can not completely reproduce the feel of a forged iron.

Another option you need to consider is graphite or steel shafts. Graphite is going to provide more distance and less forgiveness, and the steel will keep the ball more in play, but the shots won’t likely be as long.

Lastly, you need to consider the look of the club that works best for your handicap. I don’t like looking down at a thick top line; this eliminates some options for me. If you are a golfer that wants pure forgiveness and doesn’t care what the club looks like, this won’t be an issue for you.

Step 4: Testing And Purchasing

One of the most prominent mistakes golfers make when going to hit new irons is not bringing their old irons with them. New clubs might feel amazing, but if your seven iron is going 152 yards and you are accustomed to hitting it 150, is that worth the $1000 upgrade?

It is very likely that if your clubs are more than a few years old, your ball speed will be quite a bit higher with new irons. This can lead to quite a bit more distance. As long as your shots are heading in the direction you want them, this $1000 upgrade starts making more sense.

When it comes time to purchase a set, the deals on the internet are almost always lower than the traditional golf stores. Look for Masters sales and Memorial Day Sales as well. That will be the first time you see manufacturers start to lower pricing even on the new equipment.

Best golf irons 2020 reviews and features

1. Best Golf Irons 2020 reviews – TaylorMade P790 Irons

Well, every golfer would love to get the look and feel of a forged iron keeping the workability and forgiveness of a cavity back design. Thanks to TaylorMade engineers for introducing the hollow body forged irons that breed ultimate forgiveness with ideal playability.

Best Golf Irons 2020 reviews
Technology

In the TaylorMade P790 Irons, you will witness the Speed Foam technology that delivers a much-improved feel and crisper sound. The wrapped face construction is forged from 4140 Carbon steel which is then welded onto a carbon steel body. So, from there you get a forged iron feel.

The manufacturers have also placed the tungsten weighting for precise CG and higher MOI. moreover. TaylorMade opted an ultrathin face in the P790 Irons for greater distance.

Performance

You won’t get extra ball speed, greater forgiveness and a tremendous feel in many golf irons other than TaylorMade P790 Irons. In addition to that, the playability of these hi-tech irons is just wow. With an elegant design and a beautiful matte finish, the look of these irons is something really eye-catching.

So, overall, P790 irons are one of the most complete golf irons in the market.

Specs
  • True Temper Dynamic Gold 105 Steel Shaft.
  • Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 Grip.
  • Cavity Back Design.
  • Forged Irons.
  • D2 Swing Weight.

2. Best Golf Irons 2020 reviews – Mizuno JPX 919 Hot Metal Irons

When choosing the top irons for 2020, I like to select options that would work for a wide variety of players. The Mizuno JPX 919 line has an option for all levels. Specifically, here we will focus on the Hot Metal Irons.

The JPX Irons have compact players look to them, but they are built for the mid handicapper. These irons offer a low center of gravity with plenty of launch and forgiveness.

Designed with the new Chromoly 4140M, the feedback on these irons at impact is like a tour-level club. Mizuno, like Titleist, has been known as a players club. That is just not the case with these 919 Irons.

Like all-forgiving distance irons, the weakness can be feel and sound. Mizuno worked on the sound with these irons by improving their sound ribs to make impact sound as top-end as they feel.

As far as lofts are concerned on the 919 series, you will see the same progression you do across most manufacturers. The Metal irons set will have the lowest lofts, and as you move to the forged and the tour, the lofts will increase, allowing the workability for the better player.

Although they were also considered some of the best irons last year, they will remain on the list this year. For a set of this JPX in a steel shaft, your pricing will be quite high, depending on set makeup.

Mizuno released their new MP 20 line, but they are still going to manufacture the JPX Series for some time, allowing you a chance to get these clubs custom should you need it.

3. Callaway Apex Iron Set – best Golf Irons 2020 reviews

Callaway Epic Irons

Although the Callaway Apex iron set is a 2019 release, it’s going to stay at the top of the list in 2020. The Apex is one of the softest feeling irons on the market while still offering consistent distance and ball speed.

Technology

Callaway has introduced the strong Exo Cage frame with a 360-Degree Face Cup Technology to extract faster ball speed and a straighter trajectory. The manufacturer has added a high-density tungsten-infused metal in the head region for greater forgiveness and distance as well.

Not only that, it also lowers the CG in the long irons, hence you get an increase launch angle whereas the CG is high at the short irons for better accuracy and spin control.

Performance

Definitely, Callaway Epic is a game improvement iron, that delivers you the straighter ball flight, greater forgiveness, and easy loft. In addition, the laser-welded components induced vibration control and hence you won’t get any vibrations white hitting the longer shots. The workability of these irons is also right up to the mark.

Specs
  • Project X LZ 95 Shaft. (Steel).
  • D2 Weight.
  • UST Recoil ES 760/780 Graphite Shaft.
  • Cavity Back Design.
  • Light, Regular & Stiff Shaft Flex.

Best Golf Irons 2020 review – Game Improvement

Now that I have given you my three choices for the best of what is out there for 2020, I will now break it down a little further to provide you with some options more specific to player type.

This next group of irons are going to be for the player that needs both distance and forgiveness.

4. TaylorMade SIM MAX Irons – Best Golf Irons reviews 2020 for Distance

The brand new SIM MAX irons also came out in January. 2020 The SIM MAX is for golfers looking for the best distance and forgiveness they can get with some feel that very closely resembles forged irons.

If there were any complaints about the M6 iron set, it was that the sound was not perfect. TaylorMade worked with sound engineers to make sure that every hit with this iron sounds as close to a forged set of irons as possible.

The echo dampening system spans across the entire face of the iron, so even the mis-hit sounds excellent. For a cavity back iron, they did an excellent job with sound.

Taylor Made realizes that average golfers need a very stable face to promote control at impact. The new and improved Speed Bridge provides this stability while still keeping weight low and ball speed up.

As with all game improvement irons, the center of gravity is held low to make it easier to get shots in the air.

The SIM MAX also comes in an oversized version. Although the two models are very close, the SIM MAX OS has a larger sweet spot and more forgiveness.

Also, TaylorMade claims that the SIM MAX OS is the longest club in the 2020 line up. For golfers that need pure distance and speed on every shot, the MAX is the way to go.

5. Callaway Mavrik Irons – Best Golf Irons reviews for Fixing A Slice

The new Mavrik irons are the latest game improvement set from Callaway. This iron was produced to replace the Rogue set, one of the best golf irons 2018.

The Mavrik comes in two models, the Mavrik and theMavrik Max. Very similar to how the Rogue came in the Rogue and Rogue X.

These Mavrik irons have a large sweet spot and are built for distance. The Max irons are slightly oversized, and the lofts are a bit higher. Technically higher lofts will decrease length but increase launch.

If you are a player that wants more traditional lofts and a bit higher ball flight, the Max is going to be the choice for you.

Callaway used Artificial Intelligence for the first time in an iron. They were able to create a specific design for each iron and the proper positioning of the center of gravity. Your eight iron will actually be built differently than your seven iron, not just loft.

Similar to the Apex irons, I already mentioned the Mavrik clubhead is packed full with urethane microspheres. They are able to keep the weight low while still producing incredible feel on solid shots.

If you tend to hit the ball slightly off-center, these cavity-back irons will at least make impact more pleasant. Your shot will also very likely be under control.

The Mavrik come stock with the True Temper Elevate 95 shaft. The True Temper is a 95-gram mid launch, mid spin, mid-weight shaft. Most golfers are going to be looking for a medium weight option that is easy to control and rewarding on a great shot.

The average player does not need an iron shaft heavier than 95/100 grams. If, however, your swing speed is above average, there are custom options to help you control the ball in the way you want.

A new set of Mavrik irons starts at medium to high price point, depending on what kind of a set makeup you are looking for.

6. Cleveland UHX Irons – Best For Forgiveness and Feel

The Cleveland UHX Irons are the new release for the 2020 golf season. Cleveland did very well in 2019 with their CBX Iron set and they answered back.

This is a progressive set, something that can help even the best of golfers. The short irons in the set are a cavity back design, giving players control over their shorter shots. The long irons are a hollow, hybrid-like design for maximum distance, accuracy, and launch.

The UHX Irons are designed for a mid handicap player. The look on this set is impressive. On the shorter irons, the top-down look is a clean, classic iron that has you feeling like you can hit it pure.

As you get towards the five iron, the club gets thicker and helps you have the confidence you need for that long shot.

Cleveland makes some of the best wedges on the market. They are working continuously to improve shot control, and because of that, they are no putting their zip grooves on the irons as well.

If you are a feel player looking to improve, this is a perfect set for you. From the pitching wedge to the long irons, the set is constructed to increase ball speed while maintaining control over your shots.

As always, Clevelands pricing is fair and will likely continue to drop as we move through the year. Currently, you can get a UHX Iron in a steel shaft for a great value.

Considering most companies launch their game improvement clubs at a higher price point per club, this is an excellent value for a long-lasting set of golf clubs.

Best Golf Irons 2020 reviews – Players Category

If you are less than a ten handicap and more worried about control, playability, and feel as opposed to distance and forgiveness, these are the irons for you.

7. Titleist AP3 Irons

Titliest 718 AP3 Irons

Technology

The three-construction system within the same set makes Titleist AP3 Irons as the best. Yes, the three constructions include an undercut cavity with a hollow tungsten construction in 3 to 7 Irons with a thin face that boasts more distance and much higher trajectory,

Moreover, in the heel to toe, there is a high density 84 grams metal placed which improves stability and boost MOI.

Performance

Well, the latest Titleist Iron has a lot to admire. To be honest, it promises a great speed, higher trajectory and that too without sacrificing your style and workability.

In addition to that, you have to give full marks to the manufacturers for the creativity and precision. The tale doesn’t end here because the forgiveness is something you can’t ignore here. Extremely forgiving and distance oriented irons without doing too much effort.

Specs

  • True Temper AMT Black Shaft.
  • Cavity Back Design.
  • Steel Material.
  • Regular and Stiff Flex.
  • Set makeup is 4,5,6,7,8,9,PW.

8. Mizuno JPX Tour/Forged

Best Golf Irons for Feel

The 919 Series of clubs that Mizuno put out in 2019 are some of the best golf irons on the market. There is an option for all player types within this series.

The Tour and Forged Version are going to be the models that better players will enjoy.

Differences between these two sets are going to be both loft and the top-down look. The Forged will have a thicker top line and slightly lower lofts, and the other model is more for the lower handicap golfers. For some time last year, even Brooks Koepka was playing these irons.

These Mizuno irons will offer players distance and more forgiveness than a true blade for an off-center shot. The new Pearl Brush finish adds some durability and reduced glare.

If you are a player who likes to work the ball, has control over ball flight, and enjoys hitting unconventional shots, these irons will allow you to do all of that.

Sold stock with steel shafts. This set of irons will run close to quite high, but I can guarantee this is an iron set that you will still have in the bag five years from now.

9. Callaway Rogue Irons

Perhaps the favorite 2019 option for golfers within the Callaway line was the Rogue. It came in two models the Rogue and Rogue X. Rogue X had lower lofts and focused more on lower ball flight and increased distances.

Both sets used the 360 FaceCup technology and did everything possible to increase both distance and forgiveness. Simply said, this is an easy club to hit. It is most definitely a mid to high handicap iron.

The only complaint that people had about this iron was sound and feel. The Mavrik addresses both of those concerns.

If you are looking for a new set but not wanting to spend as much as the new Mavrik, I would first look for a set of these Rogue on closeout. You are going to get a club that is incredibly close to the brand new Mavrik for much less cost; it’s certainly worth a shot!

10. TaylorMade M4 Irons

The TaylorMade M4 set is probably one of the most popular among golfers in the mid handicap range. I have not talked to many players that don’t like the M4 iron.

The M4 is all about increasing distance on every hit. The RIBCOR technology is used to help make this one of the longest options for golfers in the mid handicap range. The best part about the M4, in my opinion, is that it still looked like a classic set of traditional irons.

As TaylorMade moved into the M6 and SIM MAX irons, the design became a little less traditional. Yes, this still appeals to plenty of golfers, but I feel like the M4 is a cleaner looking club. Standing over a club that has a sleek look to it makes me feel as those I can pull of the shot that I want.

The M4 set was initially released at a price close to the SIM MAX is now. Since this was a 2018 set, you can now find deals for considerably less if you can find them in the specs you need.

Although you cannot order these custom fit to your swing, these are worth the investment at this price. Many golfers that played with and enjoyed the Burner irons found the M4 to be a perfect upgrade.

What are the types of Golf Irons?

To know better about the types of Golf irons, first we need to know how they are prepared and what makes them different from each other. Moreover why some costs higher and others costs less. So, on the basis of preparation, we have two types of irons:

Forged Irons:

From the word “Forge”, you may have got the idea already. Exactly what the blacksmiths near you do with their stuff. The metal is sunk into a rough shape and then hammered into the desired shape. Now they have a raw iron that is almost identical to the final clubhead, which is finished by milling, grinding, and polishing Just like those swords you see it GOT.

This one is mostly for the advanced players who know their thing.

Cast Irons:

In this case, the story is totally opposite. The liquid metal is poured into a mould allowing the manufacturers to make a bit more mumbo-jumbo designs. Keeping this in account, such types of irons are more suited for multi-material, intricate, and perimeter weighted irons. Being an easy and cheap way of preparation, it says a lot about why it costs almost half of the aforementioned stuff.

Design Based types

Moving on a bit deep in the topic, now let’s tell you about the various designs of irons that you need to be considering based on the level and style of your sport game. From beginner to professional, there are various types of irons based on your needs:

Here’s something you need to know about them:

Blade Irons

These irons are especially designed for a bit advanced players in the game. Featuring a thin face, compact hitting area, and thin topline, Blade irons generally distribute the weight evenly throughout the head producing a very small sweet spot right in the center of the head. Due to more weight placed behind the sweet spot, it is more capable of shaping a shot in a better way. No surprise why they are known as Muscle backs. I mean, they really have some potential.

Cavity Back Irons

Having more cavity in the back of the head, it tends to concentrate more weight on the borders. This in turn results in a comparatively greater moment of inertia for higher forgiveness. Most commonly, a comparatively bigger clubhead is paired with a thin clubface for straighter and longer shots. Best suited for a high handicapper who desperately needs a big sweet spot for some good shots off the tee.

Wilson golf profile JGI junior complete golf set review

The problem with the junior club set market is that some manufacturers try to push a certain style of play on young golfers too early in their development as opposed to creating sets that offer a broader opportunity for development.

They feature clubs that are too technically advanced in some areas and not adequate in others. But the Wilson Golf Profile Junior Set strikes a perfect balance of generalized quality and technological sophistication.

They are perfect for anyone looking to get their kids into golf, anyone who wants a good first club set for their kids that will help them develop their game or anyone looking for a good gift for the golf-loving junior in their life.

First things first: the Wilson Golf Profile Junior Set comes with a driver, a wedge, a hybrid, a putter and a short iron. This is the medium set which is recommended for players between the ages of 8 and 12. This is a good lightweight set that comes with a quality bag that your kid can carry his or herself.

We really liked that this set includes a good quality wedge. Wedge practice is essential if you want to get your child use to approaches to the green. The Wilson Golf Profile Junior Set wedge features a weighted sole that allows for more wieldy approaches and promotion of good swing mechanics.

The head of the driver is a little smaller than we expected for a junior set but that doesn’t seem to affect the size of the sweet spot. One of our staff members took his daughter to the driving range with the driver and the hybrid wood.

He came back to work Monday singing the praises of the driver. His 9 year old daughter was able to find the sweet spot after only about 5 swings and said she was downright giddy at the contact sound it made and the distance she got from it.

The putter of the Wilson Golf Profile Junior Set has alignment markers on it which is important for young players. It allows for accurate putts and isn’t too weighted.

The hybrid wood was also pretty impressive even for us adult payers (if only they were a bit longer). It features a flattened heel which makes it easier for junior players to get under the ball and strike the ball out of the rough and off the tee.

You also get a pretty good loft degree out of it (we estimated about 25 degrees).

The bag it comes with features 2 standing legs which provide good stability. The set also comes with a couple head covers for the wood and driver. This particular set (their medium version for 8-12 year olds) comes in either yellow or purple (bag and club accents).

Callaway has been famous for making quality golf clubs for more than decade now. But that quality used to come at steep price. Trademark Callaway golf clubs like Big Bertha aren’t known for their affordable prices. That all changed when they decided to make and sell affordable club sets under umbrella of their Strata brand, which they acquired many years prior.

It was 2014-15 when Callaway first released affordable club sets under their Strata brand. They weren’t the first to attempt to make affordable set of clubs for beginners, but based on critics review and their commercial success, Strata clubs are the closest of all sets to perfection.

If these clubs are too long for me can they be shortened? I am 5ft. 1in.

This is a standard set, and Callaway does not offer free customization.
However, it can be easily done from local pro shop. ( you probably need to shorten the club by 1/2 inch. ) The typical cost of shortening club is $10 per club.

What are the other Callaway women’s strata complete golf set?

Strata Complete Golf Set (12-Piece)

As i’ve probably made clear before, this 12 piece set comes with only nine clubs. One of them is forgiving driver designed to enhance your results, also four good irons, fairway wood, a hybrid golf club, putter and a wedge. The rest of the pieces consist of a stand bag and two headcovers for the clubs.

In a way, the 9 clubs in this club set represent the basics of what you’ll ever need. There are all major types of golf club represented, even the hybrids. That is good because if you’re a beginner, using them will give you valuable experience that you can use to upgrade your club set later. There are many affordable club sets on sale today, because customers seem to love them.

According to most Callaway Strata reviews both by golf club experts and customers, this Strata set is the best in the category. There are customers who’ve been using these for years and have little to no complaints. They are sturdy enough to last you for years, if you take care of it properly, of course.

Individual clubs

Driver

This set comes with large 460cc forged Callaway strata driver. It has excellent design, especially for beginners. It has large sweet spot, which makes it much easier to hit and achieve longer distance. There is headcover included in the set to protect this driver’s head. Honestly, golf drivers like these would cost around hundred bucks if you bought one on your own. By buying it within the package, you get great deal.

Fairway Wood

3-wood is nothing extraordinary, but it’s decent forgiving wood with outstanding design   that makes hitting long-distance and high-flying shots much easier. There is headcover included for this one as well.

Hybrid

I’m honestly surprised that affordable set like this one comes with hybrid as well. Most don’t offer that kind of luxury. Hybrid is very useful as an alternative to irons in some situations. For more details about using hybrids, do research on differences between irons and hybrids.

Irons/Wedges

Four irons and one wedge. They are made of stainless steel, which isn’t the best material for irons but it’s still very good. Especially considering the low price. Whether you are beginner or intermediate golfer, these irons by Callaway Strata brand won’t let you down. Callaway has struck great balance while making these clubs – affordable, yet still forgiving and useful.

Putter

Last, but nonetheless very important club – putter. It is simple and plain putter, but very accurate nonetheless. Neither materials or design are top notch, but unless you’re professional golfer, you shouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

Stand bag

Plain and simple, yet useful Callaway Strata stand bag. It doesn’t come with many fancy features, but it gets the job done. Pockets are convenient for storing the clubs. The thing i like the most about this bag is how light it is.

Strata Complete Golf Set (16-Piece)

Generally, you can think of this set as slightly improved version of 12 piece set. It also includes more golf clubs as you may have noticed. The difference between this and aforementioned 12 piece set is 4 pieces – two golf clubs and two headcovers. Golf clubs themselves seem to be better designed and made of better materials. Style of this set is different as well – while with 12 piece set the dominant color in bag and club design is red, with this one, it’s blue. It is a bit pricier than 12 piece callaway strata set, but i’d say if you’re looking for something good for beginners or intermediate golfers and 12 piece set seems too basic for you, you might want to give this one a chance.

Driver

Clubhead is exactly the same size as the one in 12 piece set. There are some minor improvements that are worth mentioning though. Unlike the other driver, this one has graphite which is believed to increase the distance of your shots. Slight change in design as well. Very good for the price, overall, decent Callaway strata driver even for more experienced golfers.

Faiway Wood

Club heads on this one are made of stainless steel and coupled with graphite shafts, you should expect your swing speed and distance of your shots to increase.

Hybrid

Unlike the other set, 16 piece set comes with TWO hybrids instead of one. So you have more freedom in your choice of hybrids to hit. Set also comes with headcovers for both hybrids.

Irons/Wedges

Other than small tweaks in design and technology used in making these clubs, no noteworthy changes.

Putter

The same as before.

Stand Bag

Same as before, except for the fact that this set has more pieces, so stand bag is larger to accommodate all these clubs and accessories. Design has also changed, from dark-blue/red to dark blue/light blue. Very stylish Callaway strata bag overall.

What is good in Cleveland golf CBX 2 wedge?

Hollow-Cavity Design

Hollow-Cavity Design

A hollow chamber near the heel and a heavy weight in the toe maximizes MOI and perimeter weighting for unprecedented short game forgiveness.

Dynamic Sole

Dynamic Sole

Three different sole grinds, optimized by loft, deliver more versatility to execute any shot on the course.

Amazing Feel

Amazing Feel

Enhanced Feel Balancing Technology delivers a toe-bias center of gravity, while a Gelback TPU Insert reduces vibration. It all combines to deliver a pure feel at impact.

Rotex Face

Rotex Face

Fourth Generation Rotex Face technology delivers our sharpest Tour Zip Grooves and most aggressive face milling for maximum spin and short game control.

Cleveland golf CBX 2 wedge review

Looks

Side by side with Cleveland’s blade-style RTX offering, the face on the CBX 2 is noticeably larger.  The sole is also significantly wider.

I think when it comes to golf equipment, most golfers are susceptible to a bit of vanity, whether they are eager to admit it or not.  By that token, it’s a breath of fresh air that these wedges don’t have a bunch of design elements that scream “CHECK OUT MY TECH FEATURES!”  The clubs have a clean, classic, and razor-sharp look.

Sound & Feel

The sound of impact is a crisp ‘tock.’  The feel is excellent.  Though not as buttery soft as a forged blade-style wedge, the feedback on strike location is evident in the way the ball comes off the club and rolls out on the green, and also in the hands to a greater degree than I expected from a cavity back wedge.

Build & enginerring

The Cleveland CBX 2 wedge is based around making the short game as easy as possible by providing extra forgiveness to the amateur golfers, whilst still retaining the spin and control we all crave from the scoring clubs.

Cleveland CBX 2 Wedge

The idea is that this wedge is the perfect companion for golfers who use cavity back irons to make the switch to specialist wedges, and there are a couple of changes for this model when compared to the original CBX wedge.

Firstly, a new Hollow-Cavity design means that there is now an empty chamber near the heel and a heavy weight placed in the toe of the head. This setup is said to maximise Moment of Inertia (MOI) which provides more forgiveness, and Cleveland says that this results in 25% more shots being hit from the sweet spot.

Cleveland CBX 2 Wedge
Cleveland golf CBX 2 wedge review

This combines with the updated Feel Balancing Technology to create a toe-biased centre of gravity for the first time, to complement the natural tendencies of the amateur golfer, whilst a Gelback TPU Insert gives a crisp, soft feel.

There are now three different sole grinds on offer depending on which loft you are using, to give golfers greater versatility with each wedge to pull off the desired shot.

Cleveland CBX 2 Wedge

The 46-52° wedges feature a V-shaped sole which is said to get through the turf easier and is geared towards full shots, the 54-56° sand wedges have an S-shaped sole for extra help getting out of the sand or deep rough, and the 58-60° lob wedges have a C-shaped grind which allows for the face to be manipulated.

Cleveland CBX 2 Wedge

Finally, the Rotex groove design has been given an upgrade too. Three different layers are now combined to give you plenty of grip. First up is Rotex milling of the face, which adds friction between the grooves for added spin.

Cleveland CBX 2 Wedge

Laser milling makes the face even rougher to provide extra stopping power, and the Tour Zip grooves have been made even sharper and provide extra spin from the rough.

Cleveland Says…

Brian Schielke, Marketing Director at Cleveland Golf, commented:

The short game is critical to playing your best golf, and playing wedges designed for your game – and the shots you like to hit – is key. That’s why Cleveland CBX 2 wedges were created. They make the short game easier and more forgiving for the majority of golfers out there playing game-improvement equipment.

The Test

I took the new CBX 2 wedges down to my local club, Bramall Park. On that particular day there had been a lot of overnight rain which made the course very wet. This meant that the wedges were under pressure as I encountered some dodgy lies and my ball-striking had to be pretty precise. Great…

I also took the wedges down to The Range in Manchester to check that the numbers all added up and that they performed as expected on their GC2 launch monitor.

Cleveland CBX 2 Wedge on-field Review

Wedge play is probably the strongest part of my game, so when I first got my hands on the new CBX 2 Wedges along with Cleveland’s claims that you’d still get plenty of spin and control but also gain a little more forgiveness, I couldn’t wait to get out on the course and try them.

Cleveland CBX 2 Wedge

Looks-wise, it’s a really friendly footprint down by the ball. The head looks big without being too chunky and I actually think it’s quite a confidence-inspiring shape. I also couldn’t help but feel that the size and weight of the head made me feel confident that I could squeeze a couple of extra yards out if required removing fears of coming up short.

Cleveland CBX 2 Wedge

The wedges were, on the whole, very good good from the fairway and towards the green. I could definitely feel the added forgiveness helping me out on the wetter lies on the day where I was testing, with a good strong ball flight.

I was saved by the new Hollow-Cavity a couple of times on ‘toey’ strikes. Usually these would’ve come up short of the green with a normal bladed wedge, but with the CBX 2 I was able to cling to the front of the green and still have a birdie putt.

Cleveland CBX 2 Wedge

I am used to using a bladed wedge so I felt that there was a little loss of feel in comparison, although it was still soft and the noise was a little ‘clicky’ due to the head construction.

For a wedge which has plenty of weight towards the bottom and back of the club head, I was a little worried that the ball flight was going to be too high. However my session at The Range proved that the gap wedge actually flew a little lower than the bladed Callaway MD5 Jaws Wedge which I recently tested, whilst also spinning a little more too.

Cleveland CBX 2 Wedge

Around the greens, the CBX 2 had a good combination of versatility and forgiveness which allowed it to be adept at a range of shots. I played a couple of bump-and-runs with the 52 degree wedge which were really easy to pull off, and the lob wedge performed well out of the thicker rough as it was able to cut through the long grass without too much fuss.

Cleveland CBX 2 Wedge

One of the slight worries I did have prior to testing was that the lob wedge would feel a little one-dimensional, being a cavity-back design. But I was pleasantly surprised by the level of versatility that it afforded me.

On the 5th hole I pulled my approach shot left and was faced with a tricky chip over a bunker to a tucked pin, but this was no problem and I was able to make an up-and-down which looked like being a definite bogey.

On a similar note, it felt nice and easy to slide the blade under the ball in the bunkers with the 60 degree lob wedge.

Cleveland CBX 2 Wedge

The new C-Grind did a good job of allowing me to open up the face further to get plenty of height and make sure the ball stopped nice and quickly.

Cleveland golf CBX 2 wedge Performance review

One of my favorite parts about playing golf is being creative around the greens.  Deciding what route the ball ought to take to the hole is often a much more nuanced process from 10 yards than it is from 100.  I was able to open up the blade and pop it up in the air or hood the face and get it running quickly with equal ease.

On full shots, the CBX 2 gets the ball in the air in a hurry.  From the rough or from the fairway, well-struck shots launch very high.  A ball struck with less than total precision will get a couple more yards of carry than one struck with a blade-style wedge.

I also noticed that while the turf conditions at some courses are more conducive to creating high spinning wedge shots than others, these wedges stuck or spun back just as much if not more than my gamers.  Fresh grooves always help with that, too, and the CBX 2 has a particularly beautiful, zippy-looking milling pattern

Finally, Cleveland has simplified their grind offerings with the CBX 2.  In the RTX-4, there are three sole options.  In the CBX 2, there is one sole per loft, optimized for the way that loft is predominantly used.

If you want to dig a little deeper into the performance metrics behind cavity back vs. blade wedge performance, check out the edition of Golf Myths Unplugged that Matt did with the folks at Club Champion earlier this year.

How Golf club numbers and distance can help golfers? You need to know the average distance you hit a ball with each golf club in your set, if you want to use golf club for a particular shot,. Then, you simply choose the golf club that fits the distance you need to hit.

What Are the Common Types of Golf Clubs?

Typically, golfers carry a few types of golf clubs in their golf bag. The three common types of golf clubs are wood, iron and putter.

Iron Golf Clubs

Iron golf clubs are used after teeing off; you can recognize them by the extreme angle of the club heads. Every golfer has more irons than any other golf club in their bag! Make sure you stock up before you swing on our South Florida golf course.

Wood Golf Clubs

Wood golf clubs are long-range clubs used at the beginning of every hole when you tee off. For longer courses, use wood golf clubs in the second swing. Woods have large, circular club heads with a flat front where you strike the golf ball.

Putter Golf Clubs

Putters are easy to remember because they have short shafts and smaller club heads. You may recognize this club from the last time you played mini-golf, but, hopefully, your putter is much better than those!

Your standard beginner golf club set will most likely look like this:

  • Woods – 3 & 5
  • Irons – 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and a pitching wedge
  • Putter – only 1 is needed

This table shows how far the average golfer generally hits with each club when he or she makes solid contact.

The best way to find out is to hit about 50 balls with each club. Eliminate the longest five and the shortest five, and then figure out the middle of the remaining group. That’s your average yardage.

When you start to play this game, you probably won’t attain these yardages — but while you practice, you can get closer to these numbers.

Key Factors to Achieve Golf Club Distance

The total distance achieved by a golf club is based on several factors: the loft achieved, the carry distance achieved (Note: The carry distance is the yardage from the point of impact to the point of landing.), the weather conditions and your swing speed:

Loft: Each club face has a unique angle. The more angle on the club face, the greater the potential loft of the club. For example, a driver is designed for distance, so the club face is almost straight up and down. This causes only an 8-13 degree loft. In comparison, a pitching wedge is designed for loft, so the club face is more parallel to the ground, with a 47-53 degree loft.

Distance: According to Golfmentor.com, distances achieved by short, mid and long hitters can vary by as much as 50% depending on the club and the gender (see actual average distance ranges below). Men tend to have faster swing speeds which causes them to hit the ball farther. However, many women are long hitters, with some LPGA pros hitting the ball as far, or farther, than men on the course.

Weather: The distance achieved can be greatly affected by the weather conditions. Hitting a ball into a strong wind can greatly influence the loft and the distance achieved.

Swing Speed: The faster your swing speed, the greater the distance that you can achieve.

Loft Angle (Degree)

Drivers are designed to maximize the ball’s carry distance, so a driver’s loft angle ranges from 8 to 13 degrees, depending on the specific brand or model of driver.

Woods, ranging from a 2-wood to a 5-wood are also used for distance, but their loft angle is slightly greater than a driver. This angle provides the golfer with distance, with a little more loft than a driver.

2 Wood12 – 15 degrees
3 Wood12 – 17 degrees
4 Wood15 – 19 degrees
5 Wood20 – 23 degrees

Irons, ranging from a 1-iron to a 9-iron are used for distance with the larger numbered irons being used for their ability to get loft for a ball.

1 Iron15 – 18 degrees
2 Iron18 – 20 degrees
3 Iron21- 24 degrees
4 iron25 – 28 degrees
5 iron28 – 32 degrees
6 iron32 – 36 degrees
7 iron36 – 40 degrees
8 iron40 – 44 degrees
9 iron45 – 48 degrees

Wedges, for pitching, sand or lobbing, are primarily used for their ability to get under a golf ball and give it maximum loft.

Pitching Wedge 47 – 53 degrees
Sand Wedge 54 – 58 degrees
Lob Wedge 58 – 62 degrees

How to Score Common Golf Penalty Shots?

A stray shot in golf is frustrating, but it happens to the best golfers. Where the ball is hit makes a difference in how it is played and scored. Take a look at these common golf penalty shots and how to deal with them:

PenaltyHow to Score
Out-of-bounds1-stroke penalty plus distance. Replay the ball from where it
was just played (or tee up again if it was your first shot).
Unplayable lies1-stroke penalty. Drop the ball within two club lengths of the
original spot, no nearer to the hole. Or drop the ball as far back
as you want, as long as you keep the original unplayable lie point
between you and the hole. You may also return to the spot from
which you played your original shot if you prefer.
Water hazard (yellow stakes)1-stroke penalty. Play the ball as near as possible to the
place from which the original shot was hit. Or drop a ball behind
the water, as long as you keep the point at which the original ball
crossed the edge of the water hazard directly between the hole and
the spot on which the ball is dropped. There is no limit to how far
behind the water hazard you can go with the ball.
Lateral water hazard (red stakes)1- stroke penalty. Drop a ball outside the lateral hazard
within two club lengths of where the ball went in, but not nearer
to the hole. Or keep a point on the opposite edge of the water
hazard equidistant from the hole.
