The site also boasts practice facilities that include a grass driving range and a short-game practice area featuring two chipping greens, two green-side bunkers and a putting green. Players can chose from four sets of tee markers on each course. Surrounded by farmland, the immaculately-maintained Hominy Hill Golf Course in Colts Neck features strategically placed bunkers that complement a challenging layout. Robert Trent Jones designed this championship golf course that has hosted national and regional tournaments and is regularly voted among the top public courses in the state. (Par 72; 7,049 yards)

Bel-Aire Golf Course in Wall comprises two family-friendly executive courses with wide-open features and challenging forced water carries. Situated one mile off the Garden State Parkway and four miles from the beach, Bel-Aire enjoys notoriety as the Jersey Shore’s go-to site for golf. (9-hole: Par 27; 1,099 yards/18-hole: Par 60; 2,912 yards)

A well-maintained executive course that appeals to golfers of all abilities, Pine Brook Golf Course in Manalapan features a challenging design and narrow fairways that test skill while the short layout suits novice golfers. (Par 61; 4,168 yards)

Shark River Golf Course in Neptune was designed in 1918 by Scottish golf pro Joseph “Scotty” I’Anson. The old-style regulation course attracts “shot-makers” as its well-protected greens and tight fairways place an emphasis on accuracy. (Par 71; 6,507 yards).

The secluded, forest setting, signature array of dogleg holes and fast-sloping greens give golfers the feeling that they are at a private club at Howell Park Golf Course in Howell, the county’s first golf course. Olympia Fields has hosted four major championships: two U.S. Opens (1928, 2003) and two PGA Championships (1925, 1961). How much is Olympia Fields Country Club membership fees? And what about North Course scorecard.

It contains two eighteen-hole courses, North and South. The North Course is considered one of the top three courses in the Chicago area, and is generally ranked in the top 50 courses in the United States. The South Course is regularly ranked in the top ten in Illinois. Olympia Fields is one of the few private clubs in the U.S. with multiple courses ranked, and it is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Olympia Fields is famous for its enormous clubhouse, which was finished in 1925 at a cost of $1.3 million. It is a half-timbered English Tudor-style building with an 80-foot-high (24 m), four-faced clock tower that has become the trademark of the club. The western boundary of the property is bordered by a commuter rail line, Metra Electric District, and its Olympia Fields station is just west of the clubhouse; the line was previously the Illinois Central Railroad.

Olympia Fields Country Club membership fees

Private clubs like Olympia Fields are accessible to the daily-fee golfer — at a price. The TaylorMade Performance Lab at the club, which uses high-tech computers to fit clubs and fix swings, is open to the public, at a stiff $400 for two hours.

Olympia Fields’ initiation fee, at $50,000, and annual dues and fees, at less than $11,000, cost less than clubs of comparable rank. Membership, at 500 families, has been undersubscribed lately, which means no waiting list to get in.

Charity functions feature golf on Mondays, when the club is otherwise closed. The Evans Scholars summer outing is Monday (call the Western Golf Assn. at 847/724-4600) and the Big Shoulders Fund Golf Classic is Aug. 11 (call 312/751-8337).

North Course scorecard

Nearly 600 yards was added to the length, bringing it to a major league 7,200 yards. Florida-based architect Steve Smyers restored the deep sculpting to bunkers that had been allowed to go flat and dull over time. He reconfigured greens and tee boxes, improved drainage systems and even moved some fairways.

Members at the private Olympia Fields, open to the public for lessons and charity events, have lavished substantial investment on their 18-hole South Course, updating and expanding the historic 1918 Tom Bendelow design.

The result, a monstrously tough challenge that remains true to its origins, ranks as one of the finest course makeovers around Chicago in recent years. The first two massive par 4s, one 459 yards and the other 482 yards, make it clear from the start that this club aims to regain national stature. No. 5 is a 243-yard par 3 that might be stretched even longer for tournament conditions. It would defy even the best pros from taking aim at birdie.

Among the redone course’s most challenging holes: the 243-yard No. 5.

At the same time, the middle tees, at 6,555 yards, and the forward markers, at 5,500 yards, allow the ordinary player to enjoy the forest-lined fairways and sharply undulating greens best suited to big-hitting low-handicappers. It’s hard to find fault with any of Mr. Smyers’ decisions. He’s fashioned No. 3, for instance, into an all-new 182-yard par 3 uphill to a fortress-like green that slopes both right to left and back to front. At No. 4, a par 5 of 543 yards, he nudged the fairway left, installed a fresh set of fairway traps on the right side, then added a big trap 40 yards in front of the green to catch wobbly lay-ups. New mounds have been sculpted in many places.

Golf is an extremely popular sport, but playing at the best, most expensive golf membership in the world comes with a price. How much would you spend on a golf membership? What is the most expensive golf membership in the world? Well, if you had any intention of joining some of America’s finest clubs, you better pony up.

Whether it be business magnates like Bill Gates or celebrities like Sir Sean Connery, many of the rich-and-famous are the most expensive golf membership around the world. Some memberships are by invite only, like Pine Valley in New Jersey (routinely ranked the No. 1 course in the United States), so it’s difficult to know just what it takes to become a member. However, the initiation fee to join some of the most exclusive golf clubs (most expensive golf membership) in the world has been made public over the years. With staggering initiation fees and wait lists a mile long, these clubs show no sign of slowing down. It’s somewhat insane to the average person to think that these prices are somewhat common and actually fairly good deals considering. Would you pay these prices? Do you think it’s worth it? Or would you rather play on a public course with a daily fee?

The respective clubs have not confirmed the initiation fees. These numbers were gathered from research, word of mouth and industry insiders.

12. National Golf Links of America

Estimated Dues: $75,000 plus (Initiation Fee)

Opened in 1911, this C.B. Macdonald design is one of the older golf courses found in the exclusive Hamptons area of Long Island, New York (South Hampton to be exact). According to Links magazine, initiation fees at clubs like the National are “relatively low, less than $75,000” although other reports put the joining fee as high as $575,000.

“If you’re not a blue-blood, related to a blue-blood, or service the blue-bloods’ financial, charitable and social trusts, even an unlimited checkbook won’t help,” the magazine said.

Again, this is talking just about the initiation fee wich is separate from annual dues and anything else the club may charge for.

13. Medalist Golf Club

Estimated Dues: $110,000

Medalist Golf Club is home to multiple professional golfers and is located in Hobe Sound, Florida. Designed by Greg Norman, Pete Dye, and Bobby Weed, this pristine track offers awesome views and a tough test for every skill level, especially from the Tiger tees (yes, that Tiger) which stretches it to 7,571 yards. 14. The Bear’s Club

Founded by the Golden Bear Jack Nicklaus, and his wife Barbara, the appropriately named Bear’s Club is an exclusive club in Jupiter, Florida which several Tour players call home. It offers a five-star country club experience with amenities and dining catered to basically every one of your needs. Plus the real estate in the surrounding area is as good as it gets in golf. Check it out.

15, Sherwood Country Club

Nine hundred adjacent homes, slated to be built in the coming years, are projected to cost $1.5 to $5 million. So, who is mastermind behind this luxurious PGA caliber golf haven only minutes from Manhattan? Paul Fireman, former owner of Reebok. He sold Reebok to Adidas in 2006.  His profit? A tidy $600 million. The avid golfer and ingenious businessman decided to renovate the environmentally abused piece of land with $250 million of that money. While others saw only a forgotten wasteland on the Jersey side of the Hudson River, Fireman and his son Dan saw potential. The father son pair bought in Tom Kite and Bob Cupp to design the artful club.  The result was a championship course, with an unparalleled view, 18 challenging holes and loads of amenities. Although, membership is steep in a tough economy, Fireman doesn’t let that daunt him.  He sees his masterpiece as a legacy; a tribute to the game.  If the Lady Liberty, who stands sentry over the whole affair, could talk, she would approve.
